Orchard Productions was born on may the first 2023, in Eureka, Nova Scotia, Canada to a local Pictou County resident. Our goal is to support the local economy by partnering with like minded friends and family in order to share efforts and rewards with our neighbors and our community.
Every bit of support that you provide will improve the life of someone you love. Each request fulfilled will support to the person who created the item or provided the service. We believe in equality and sharing. there is enough for everyone. Our family will use our earnings to support local small businesses, musicians, farmers, artists, restaurants, etc, which will continue to keep #NSSTRONG
We have strong ties and deep roots in our community. We make every effort possible to support and help our neighbors. Extreme care and great effort is put into every product and service that we provide.
There have been growing pains over the years preceding the official launch of Orchard Productions. We don’t always get it right the first time. It can take months to learn how to get the spoon into your mouth but eventually you get it right. Its taken a lifetime to get to where we are and we hope to never cease to exist. We put considerable effort into perfection, constantly evolving, redesigning, engineering, tasting, feeling, touching and looking closely at what we do.
We have confidence in our family. We hope you have confidence in yours. Our family has pride in their endeavours we have certainly seen a lot of failed attempts by “the competition” such as, raised garden beds that have collapsed due to lack of engineering to withstand the weight and expansion of frozen wet soil in the winter. Broken lids or busted hinges on garbage bins. Planter boxes that have rotted away faster than one might hope because they were built with cheap products or a poor choice of material.
The majority of our wooden creations are meticulously constructed utilizing locally sourced, sustainably harvested, organic, naturally weather resistant, rough cut Hemlock. Many items undergo further processing in our off grid workshop. Edges are made smooth by using a router and sandpaper to help prevent splinters and add artistic, aesthetic appeal. If you or your child does get a splinter its not so bad because its Hemlock, versus pressure treated wood which may contain carcinogens. If you should choose to treat the Hemlock to extend its lifespan there are many options available from organic hemp seed oil, linseed oil, mineral oil, to stains, varnishes and paints, we offer these services. Maybe it could be be a fun activity to do on a warm sunny day with your kids?
Customizations are certainly possible, however we would like to encourage you to consider the additional time invested, engineering, and materials, especially for the raised garden beds, the weight is immense. If you would like one a foot or two shorter, no problem! the savings on material is very minimal and the labour remains the same, so does the price. if you want a raised bed garden bed that is 4’x8’ for example, everything changes. The weight that this unit must withstand is massive! Delivery will be costly, the unit will be extremely heavy and difficult to move. there will be a lot of additional engineering, and materials required. the price will add up quickly. we recommend that you choose one of our newly upgraded and redesigned items currently available in order to avoid “sticker shock” also, to help us prevent “tire kickers” you know the type 😉 if you are looking for “a deal” please visit a “competitor” who is building with spruce, pine, or other materials that may not last as long. there are lots of people who can “slap something together” in an afternoon for cheap but cheap isn’t great and great isn’t cheap.
